Courses currently on offer are:
  • Classics of Moral Philosophy: Nietzsche's On the Genealogy of Morals  10 weeks starting 29th April
This course will undertake a reading of Nietzsche’s On the Genealogy of Morals, which put forward a scathing and highly influential attack on the ‘conventional’ morality of the time which still resonates to this day. Nietzsche’s criticisms are taken very seriously by contemporary philosophers such as Bernard Williams and Alasdair MacIntyre. After completing the Genealogy, we will go on to look at some commentaries on Nietzsche’s ethics by more contemporary philosophers, according to the interests of the group.

  • Reading Kant's Groundwork 10 weeks starting 20th May.
This course will undertake an online reading of Kant’s Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, which is, without doubt, one of the most important and influential books on moral philosophy ever written.  After completing the Groundwork we will go on to examine some commentaries on it by contemporary philosophers, such as Christine Korsgaard and Derek Parfit.
